The nuances of preparing aromatic drinks
To ensure that drinking rowan tea is not reduced to mere gastronomic pleasure, but brings benefits to the body, you should follow simple recommendations for brewing the decoction:
- It is best to take berries collected in the morning during the dry season, which have maximum vitamin value. If you do not collect the fruits yourself, it is worth purchasing them from pharmacy chains, where all standards for harvesting and storing the crop are strictly observed.
- In order to prepare a healing tonic and vitamin tea, it is worth mixing at least two ingredients that enhance their mutual effect. The “companions” of red rowan berries are usually the fruits of black currant, hawthorn, chokeberry and rose hips.
- Since a properly prepared decoction is the key to preserving its medicinal properties, tea should be brewed in a thermos, and not in the usual thin-walled teapot. This will ensure the long-term proper temperature required to obtain the correct concentration of the drink. In this case, the berries of various plants need to be poured with boiling water, and then infused in one container, and not separately.
Unlimited scope of imagination when cooking
To taste the healing drink made from rose hips and rowan, you need to mix half a tablespoon of each variety of crushed berries and pour five hundred milliliters of boiling liquid, leaving to infuse in a thermos for twenty-four hours. This decoction is useful to drink as a stand-alone drink, sweetened with honey, or pour a couple of spoons into regular tea. This will enhance the tonic properties of the latter, becoming a wonderful warning against the occurrence of seasonal vitamin deficiency.
For the treatment of ARVI, high blood pressure and hemorrhoids, a decoction of a mixture of chokeberry and red rowan is suitable. Take half a glass of the fruits of each plant, boiling them together in half a liter of boiling water. Pour two hundred and fifty milliliters of the strained drink into the teapot and top it up with regular loose leaf tea. To obtain the desired effect, it is enough to drink a third of a glass of the resulting drink, diluting it with hot water to a whole glass.
The beautiful rowan will help turn any ordinary tea into a healing one, the beneficial properties of which are truly unique. And you just need to brew it in equal proportions together with crushed rowan berries and leaves, pour boiling water over the mass, and then, for at least an hour, leave it in a thermos.
It is impossible to talk about all the existing options for preparing this aromatic drink. Don’t be afraid to experiment and one day you will undoubtedly invent your own unique recipe for “magical” rowan tea.

- In May, flowers are harvested by cutting off their inflorescences. It is also allowed to collect bark at this time.
- In August, the leaves of the plant are cut off, since at this time the vitamin C content reaches its maximum.
As for berries, the timing of their collection depends on the form in which they will be stored in the future:
- In September-October, berries are harvested to be dried or stored fresh. They need to be cut in clusters; it is important to do so before the first frost, since during this period they contain the maximum amount of useful microelements.
- From October to November, fruits are collected, which will later be used in cooking. You can make jam from them, make infusions, decoctions, or freeze them in the freezer. Berries that have been slightly damaged by frost are excellent for drying.
